What kind of paper are the images printed on?
The images are printed on an actual layer of icing. The icing is held together by a paper backing that you will remove before applying the image to your cake. The icing sheet is sealed in a plastic bag, and can last up to 6 months before use, without refrigeration.
How do I put the image on the cake?
You will receive an edible icing sheet with your image printed on it along with instructions on how to apply the image to the cake. If you are purchasing the cake at a bakery, they will be happy to apply the image for you. Be sure to provide the instructions for them.
Can I add text to the image?
Yes. We can add text in a variety of fonts and colors. The Order Form will ask for these details.
Can I place multiple pictures on a cake?
Yes. You can provide up to 4 images per order. More than four, we recommend you use a paintshop program to combine the images to save money, since each additional image will add to your cost. If sending photos by mail, there is no limit.
What kind of frosting should I use on my cake?
The best frostings to use are buttercream, or common store bought ready-to-spread frostings. Wet whipped cream or non-dairy toppings will work but can cause the image to fade too quickly if left on for a long period of time. For best results, use a white or light colored frosting where the images are to be placed - this will ensure that the image colors are not washed out by a darker frosting color.
When should I apply the image to my cake?
Depending on how wet your frosting is, the image will begin to fade with too much moisture. If you are concerned about fading, place the image on the cake within an hour of the event. If you are using a cake bought at a bakery with the harder frosting, the image can be placed on at your convenience, but not more than 48 hours prior to the event.
Is the image safe to eat?
Completely. The edible icing sheet and edible inks are FDA approved. Once the image is applied to the cake, it will bond with the frosting and can be easily cut with a knife.
How soon can I receive my image?
We offer two delivery options. Standard orders will be processed within 3 business days and require an additional 1-5 days for delivery, depending on your location. Rush orders will be processed immediately and you will receive your order by the third business day. Please remember to allow extra time for the delivery of your image. If Rush delivery by the third business day is not possible, depending on your location, Icing Images will contact you to discuss options.
